One of the most important goals in therapy is posture training. The purpose is to improve the mechanics of the body by getting the joints/spine moving better and the muscles stronger. This enables the body to be more efficient in every movement it makes, decreasing/eliminating muscle and joint strains, repetitive injuries (like tennis elbow or Achilles tendonitis), and protecting vulnerable areas (like the low back or shoulders) during awkward movements, heavy lifting, or prolonged activities (like long distance running or even standing in one place for a long period of time).
We will address all the positions you find yourself in throughout the day that affect and are effected by your symptoms including sitting (computer use, reading, and driving), standing (work related tasks, reaching), and while in motion (walking, running, or [insert your activity here]).
Once the ideal posture and body mechanics has been achieved in treatment, we will teach you techniques and strategies to continue on your own so these beneficial changes can be maintained.
