The start of a new year can be a wonderful thing. We can brush off the old, whether it is attitude or habits, and start fresh. What are your goals for the new year?

Taking care of nagging injuries and painful body regions is a great start. If you have fitness goals you want to achieve this year, but feel limited by pain, physical therapy is a great option to help you get back on track.

On a personal note (Megan), my health and fitness goals include dropping a few pounds (Darn holiday candy, beer, and the entire last year! ;) and improving my running mileage and time, while remaining injury-free.

Plan of Action:

1. Eat clean: Moderation and fresh fruits/veggies are key. This also does not mean eating only protein. A well rounded meal plan with protein, fruits, veggies, carbs, and fats is essential in boosting your metabolism and in keeping it realistic (minimizing yo-yo effect). Eating healthy and in moderation is the goal.

2. Increase my core workouts to 3-4x per week. Currently I am at maybe 1 time per week. This is something I need to make for time for. Get ready for some planks, bridging, various squats, and many other fun and creative exercises… oh yeah, feel the burn!

3. Increase running to 4-5x per week. Currently I am at 3-4x per week. I want to add in a speed workout, a hill workout, and a long run each week. This will help my overall pace time and improve mileage.

4. I need to fit in some rock climbing, surfing, and horseback riding this year!

Okay – I laid out my goals and plan of action. Now, what are you going to do? I would love to hear from you! Leave a comment on the blog post.

Happy New Year!

Cheers,
Megan and Diane
